We recommend updating the Create Contact form before using it to add new contacts. You can find instructions for that here. Additionally, if you prefer to import contacts via an Excel spreadsheet, find the import guide here.
1. Begin by navigating to Contacts using the side panel on the left-hand side of your HubSpot dashboard.
2. In the top-right corner of the Contacts page, click the Create contact button.
3. Fill out the form using the fields presented. Be sure to include all necessary information, especially fields relevant to Ensemble Marketing, such as:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Full Mailing Address
- Communication Channels (required)
⚠️ Reminder: The Communication Channel field is required for every contact in order to sync properly to Ensemble.
Be sure to select one of the following values:
- Digital – For email marketing (unlimited)
- Direct Mail – For printed direct mailers (unlimited)
- Print Magazine – For Range publications (based on print allocation)
- Opt Out of All – For contacts who should not receive any marketing (contacts should not be deleted, they must be set to Opt Out of All if they no longer wish to receive any marketing)
4. At the bottom of the form, you'll see an option to set the contact as a marketing contact.
You only need to select this if you plan to email this contact from your own HubSpot account. For Ensemble marketing, this can be left blank.
⚠️ Note: Your HubSpot subscription includes a limited number of marketing contacts. However, there is no limit to the number of contacts you can upload for Ensemble marketing purposes.
5. Once all required and relevant fields are completed, click Create to save the contact.
If you're entering multiple contacts manually, you can click Create and add another to quickly begin entering the next contact without returning to the main Contacts page.
Your new contact is now saved in HubSpot and ready to sync with Ensemble.
