Why Are There Character Limits?
Character limits vary across fields, and are in place to ensure emails, landing pages, and ads are readable and looking their best.
Character limits are in place to ensure content displays correctly and consistently across emails, landing pages, and ads. They help optimize readability, keep messaging concise and engaging for audiences, and ensure text fits within established design templates without being cut off or reformatted.
Character limits also support technical requirements on the backend, including how content is stored, processed, and dynamically inserted into templates across different devices and platforms. Overall, these limits help us deliver a polished, reliable experience while maintaining flexibility across channels.
If you are attempting to navigate to the next page or submit content but are receiving an error message, it could be for a few reasons related to character count:
- Fields with an asterisk (*) beside the name are required, and not filling them out will result in an error prompting "This field is required". Add copy to this section, and the error message will automatically disappear.
- When too few characters are filled out, in the case below there are zero, this will prompt the error message "This field must contain at least 25 characters". Increase the amount of copy in this section, and once the copy is in the approved range, the error message will automatically disappear.

- When too many characters are filled out, in the case below there are over 400, this will prompt the error message "This field must be no longer than 400 characters". Decrease the amount of copy in this section, and once the copy is in the approved range, the error message will automatically disappear.

In the case of the consumer and advisor terms that tend to be much longer, there is a much higher character limit that will likely not be reached. In the rare instance of very long terms and conditions, you can upload the remaining terms and conditions in a file for our team to review and add manually.
